Getting Started:

Financial Fitness for Life® (FFFL) is a comprehensive personal finance curriculum for K-12 students that teaches students how to make thoughtful, well-informed decisions about important aspects of personal finance, such as earning income, spending, saving, borrowing, investing, and managing money. All lessons are based on real-world concepts, and are presented in a manner that reinforces learning through practice.

Task:

This workshop will provide you with the opportunity to review the Teacher’s Guides and Student Workbooks written for your grade levels. Each Guide is arranged by theme, and includes several lesson plans and activity suggestions for each theme.

To help you become familiar with the Financial Fitness For Life curriculum, you will be asked to form a small workgroup with participants who are teaching at or near the same grade levels. In your workgroups, you will be given time to review the lessons, and to develop a plan for implementation in your districts.

As you analyze the lessons in the workbooks, you will be asked to make connections, adjustments, and modifications and/or notations based upon the following:

  • Essential Understandings of the theme and/or lesson
  • Correlations to the Common Core Standards
  • Assessment
  • Ideas for Integration
  • Modifications for ELL, SPED, etc.
  • Extension activities for advanced learners

All work will be collected in this wiki, which will serve as a resource for you.
